Frequently asked questions

Selyf connects to your Gmail inbox, analyzes threads with AI to surface priority and reply status, and can draft an editable reply for a thread you're looking at. It doesn't send anything, delete anything, or change your mailbox.

Read-only access via Google OAuth (the gmail.readonly scope only). Selyf can view your inbox; it has no permission from Google to send, delete, or modify messages, even if it wanted to.

Message metadata (subject, sender, snippet, timestamps) is synced and stored so the inbox can be listed and filtered. The full message content is sent to the configured AI provider (Anthropic or Gemini) only when you trigger an analysis or draft for that specific thread -- never in bulk, and never without your action.

No. There is no Gmail send capability in this product today, and no OAuth scope that would allow it. AI-drafted replies exist only in your browser tab until you copy them yourself.

No. A generated draft is never sent, saved to Gmail, or delivered anywhere on your behalf. The only action available today is copying the draft text to your clipboard -- you paste and send it yourself.

The configured AI provider (Anthropic or Gemini) -- one is active at a time, chosen server-side. Both use the same prompts and the same schema-validated output, so analysis and draft quality don’t depend on which one is running.

When you open a thread and ask for analysis, its content is sent to the AI model with a fixed set of questions: how urgent is this, does it need a reply, and why. The model’s answer is validated against a strict schema before it’s shown to you, and it’s cached -- the same message is never re-analyzed or re-sent to the model twice.

Yes, at any time, from the Security page. Deleting your account removes your Google connection, synced email metadata, and AI analysis results. The security audit trail is anonymized rather than deleted, so it can’t be tied back to you.

From the Security page, in one step. Disconnecting revokes Selyf’s access with Google and ends your session immediately -- your stored data isn’t deleted by disconnecting alone, only by the separate account-deletion action.

Stored data follows the service's configured retention policy rather than being kept indefinitely. You don't have to wait for it: deleting your account removes everything immediately.

No, not yet. Search and filters apply to the threads that have already been synced into Selyf (loaded via Sync and pagination), not a live query against your whole Gmail account. The dashboard tells you when more threads exist beyond what's currently loaded.

No. Selyf only ever requests read-only Gmail access. Any future feature that needed write access -- saving a draft into Gmail itself, for example -- would require asking for a broader OAuth scope explicitly, which hasn’t happened.
